Waiting

It’s been a long time coming
Patience is a virtue
I have learned patience but it is wearing thin
Like the marathon runner I have hit a wall.

I dreamed I was in our new house
I could feel the wooden floorboards in my bare feet
I woke and wondered where and why I was
Still 4000 miles away.

The leaves are starting to turn green
And the buds are signs of getting closer
I trudge through the mud of this Irish springtime
And seriously wonder if summer will ever come.

Time is strange I said
And you agreed.
Everything is standing still
As I hurtle towards you.
