Are You in Love?

“I wish my love was like waves of the  sea

going back and forth, up and down;

and not like the ebb and tide

hugging the shore for hours

then leaving it for longer hours

with traces and ruins.

It does not bless the shore

neither with its presence

nor leaving it dry

with no single drop of water.”

From the movie “500 Days of Summer”…

Love is joyful and tiring insanity! It makes you do what you never thought you’d be doing; it makes you love your surroundings, love the whole Universe with all its darkness. You see the world like a shining sun and you may see the very same world through the darkest glasses ever. It makes you dance your walks on the streets singing your favorite tunes. Or pull your body with weighs of sadness and distress. It may kill life within you; then bring you back to life over and over and over. It makes you love yourself and it can make you hate it.

A lover is like an insane person who does not admit his insanity. A lover does not realize he is in love before some considerable time. Possibly when losing love or afterwards when such contradictions start to pop up and suffering starts to hit the lover and people around him/her.

A lover find it difficult to recognize his love; not all what we think is love is real love. Humans mix up different emotions with love such as those related to reason, circumstances or emotional immaturity.

Love may start within circumstances that motivate the person to reject it, run away from it or fight it and therefore deny it. Who would choose to be insane?!

Such attempts end up with failure. Wherever the seed of love is planted, no power can pluck it. It may drain or fade but it still exists ready to come back to life like a newborn if touched with a single drop of life-force.

Love swings you between hating yourself and loving your worst enemy. It makes you a loving person whom everybody likes to connect to; and it could  make  you an undesirable person people would avoid. It could free you beyond the sky; and it could imprison you within its restrictions and behind its bars.

The insanity of love stabilizes when the two lovers connect, accept each other and balance the connection. Then life becomes with all its troubles, daily issues and obstacles close to a heavenly Earth.

Partnership is a decision that the lovers take to share their lives together and for this journey to be a success at least one of them need to realize that partnership is like a seed planted in the soil and it requires care, water, light and clear air to grow and thrive.

Believing in the myth that partnership is heaven in itself leads to the failure of partnership and the shock of partners who may have thought they understood love and who may probably accuse ‘love’ for their failure! Partnership is but the beginning of a journey that requires mutual effort, love, acceptance and understanding.

God save us from love; God gift us with love; God protect us from love!

We live our lives seeking love, we live for love, then one day we wish we never knew it! But if we experience it, we cannot imagine our lives without it and we realize–for the first time– what love is! Then when it hits you with its insanity, you may wish from all your heart to go back before you ever stepped in but…. how would you be without it? What would you be without it?

It’s really insane!
