Exploring Ego

As I continue on my journey, I have been observing when I feel connected to Spirit or connected to “All that is” and when I feel disconnected or aware that my Ego is getting in the way.

Dr. Wayne Dyer often uses the term “Edging God Out” as a definition for Ego.  He refers to 6 Ego beliefs in his book “the Power of Intention”:

  1. I am what I have
  2. I am what I do
  3. I am what others think of me
  4. I am separate from everyone
  5. I am separate from all that is missing from my life
  6. I am separate from God

For me, this is sometimes about being distracted by the chatter around me.  Sometimes it is about not being open to the lessons that present themselves.  Sometimes it is about not trusting that I have access to the unlimited abundance the Universe has available for me or that I am a part of.  Sometimes it is about wanting everything now and not realizing I already have it all.

Awareness of this aspect of myself, gives me the opportunity to shift and let go.  Attachment to a particular outcome, being in a state of struggle, living in the past and worrying about what has not happened yet are all ways that Ego presents itself.

When I am in a space where I am connected with Creator and know that I am already a part of all that is, I am in a place where Ego falls away and I am at peace with where I am in the present moment and know that all is well.  A feeling of lack is replaced with abundance.  Fear is replaced with trust.  Judgement is replaced with acceptance and love.
