Gratitude is a mighty powerful energy. There have been many times when I have been feeling low, or have been in a negative space, and just changing my focus to things I am grateful for has completely shifted my energy. There are times that I decide to write in my journal about whatever challenges I am facing. I have made it a practise to start off with writing about what I am grateful for. Usually, that moves my focus away from whatever was troubling me and the words that I write on the pages of my journal have a more positive energy to them.
I believe that even in our darkest moments, feelings of gratitude can be the light that carries us through to the other side of that space. For a while I had a practise every morning before I got out of bed and every night before I went to sleep of focusing on all the things I am grateful for.
Today I would like to share a few of the things I am grateful for.
I am grateful for the man in my life, who loves and honours me and teaches and reminds me to love and honour myself. I am grateful for the love, laughter and adventurers we share, for the evenings of candlelight, a bottle of red wine and beautiful conversation. He is truly a gift in my life.
I am grateful for all the teachers I have – those who I call my mentors and those who challenge me in ways that I may not appreciate in the moment. They help me to learn what choices fuel my energy and bring joy into my life. They help me to learn what choices take my energy, and maybe need less of a place in my life. They challenge me to stretch myself to new heights.
I am grateful for my parents and all they have given and taught me, and for the time I have been given to spend with them. I am grateful for my family, for the connection, for the roots in knowing where I came from, and the inspiration I draw from that. For long talks with my sisters, and for all that comes with being part of a big family.
I am grateful for the opportunity to enjoy the beautiful summer weather, the lakes the landscape of the Canadian Shield, the Giant Elm Trees that form a canopy over the streets in the neighbourhood where I live, for the rivers that surround me and the power of their energy, and for the beauty and inspiration I receive from Dragonflies! I am grateful for the opportunity to create space to take this all in!
I am grateful for the gift of travel to new places, to meet people from all walks of life and circumstance, to learn and experience all that shows up through these adventures.
I am grateful for the opportunity to write, to share the thoughts I am inspired to write on this page, and for the gift of connecting with so many amazing people through this media. I am grateful for the women that have come together to write this blog and share of themselves every day, for the intention of connecting and reaching out to people around the globe.
It is this gift that connects us. There is no separation between you and I. We have everything. We are everything. We are one voice. We are one energy. We are one. For this gift, I am truly grateful.

Leah Schroeder is a Reiki Practitioner www.lifeforcehealingservices.ca and Financial Advisor. “I was born and raised in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada. For most of my 46 years this has been and currently is the place I call home. I have been working as a Financial Advisor for the past 15 years educating people about their finances, helping them restructure and reduce debt, invest for the future and properly protect their families. A strong sense that there is something more I am supposed to do in the world, a fascination with energy and a series of intuitive nudges has led me to begin practising Reiki. I have a desire to learn and practise other healing modalities, as well as serve children and empower young women around the world. I am grateful for the opportunity to share my thoughts and stories with you.”
